The eagle, who believes he is the biggest creature on earth, meets a shrimp much bigger than him. The shrimp, in turn thinking there is no one to match its size, meets an even larger giant… The moral of which seems to be that there is always someone above you. But where is the end…?
This buddhist fable is a modern version of the old Japanese folk tale ”Ebi no koshimagari” (The shrimp’s broken back).
Message from creator
The main question of the original story “Ebi no koshimagari” is “why the shurimps has broken back”. It’s because this story is spread over sea side of Japan, and has different caracters, for example instead of showing turtle, one story shows a ray, and before a big eagle(or big bird), a flog come out, or Japanese mink, or a snake. It seems that each village changed the character to fit the story in the place. However the real topic of this story is “there is always something above something”. This time I added a enormous existence of something over creature.
